Each meeting has highlighted the great interest that exists to accomplish the many programs of social development conducted by Minera Panama in the districts of Donoso and La Pintada, provinces of Colon and Cocle, explained Castillo, while reiterating the company commitment to meet the highest national and international standards to move forward a model of responsible and safe mining.
“Our Environmental Management Plan (Plan de Manejo Ambiental) involves the best practices, including the reforestation of more than 10,000 hectares with native species throughout Panama, the conservation of flora and fauna, the monitoring of water and air quality, and a series of actions that seek to ensure protection of the diversity of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, all included in the ESIA recently approved by the National Environmental Authority (Autoridad Nacional del Ambiente),” personally commented Carlos Sanchez, Environmental Director for Minera Panama.
Minera Panama also conducts periodic meetings with members of neighboring communities to the Cobre Panama project in order to inform them in a constant and direct manner of the work being done by the company to benefit the socio-economic and environmental growth of the country.
